Cummins 6BT5.9 series marine auxiliary engine is a 6-cylinder in-line, 5.9-liter four-stroke engine with a 102mm bore and 120mm stroke. It is equipped with a BYC fuel pump and GAC electronic governor.The prime power range for 50Hz generator sets (1500RPM) of the DCEC 6BT5.9 series marine auxiliary engine is from 80 kW to 115 kW. For 60Hz generator sets (1800RPM), the prime power range is from 100 kW to 120 kW.

Cummins 6BT5.9 engines come in different configurations, each with different power output. Engines with the code “T” in the model name are turbocharged, “TA” indicates turbocharged with water-air intercooler, and “TAA” means turbocharged with air-air intercooler.

Cummins 6BT5.9 provides both heat exchanger cooling and radiator cooling marine auxiliary engines, primarily used for marine main generators and marine emergency generators. For emergency generator set applications, additional options are available for customers, such as a dual starter motor system, providing both electric and spring starter motors, as required by most international classifications.

All DCEC marine auxiliary engines come with a dry type exhaust system, including a dry type exhaust manifold and dry type turbocharger. Hawks Parts offers upgrading services for water-cooled exhaust systems, modifying dry type exhaust systems into water-cooled ones, which are often requested for passenger boat projects.
