Cummins 6CTA8.3 series marine engine is a 6-cylinder in-line, 8.3-liter four-stroke engine with a 114mm bore and 135mm stroke. Cummins 6CTA8.3 series marine main engine is equipped with a Weifu (or BYC) fuel pump. The prime power range of DCEC 6CTA8.3 series marine main engine is from 188 HP to 260 HP.

Cummins marine main engines have different configurations which result in different power outputs. Engines labeled with code T in the model name indicate a turbocharged engine, code TA means turbocharged with a water-air intercooler, and code TAA means turbocharged with an air-air intercooler.

Based on standard DCEC marine main engines, Hawks Parts provides both heat exchanger cooling and keel cooling marine main engines. All DCEC marine main engines come with a dry type exhaust system, consisting of a dry type exhaust manifold and dry type turbocharger. Hawks Parts provides upgrading services for water-cooled exhaust systems, modifying dry type exhaust systems into water-cooled exhaust systems, which are often requested by passenger boat projects.

Fuel System

The Bosch in-line fuel pump operates at high injection pressures, promoting cleaner combustion and lower emissions.

Cooling System

Choose between single-loop keel cooling or an engine-mounted heat exchanger for simplified installation. An optional fan drive is available for radiator applications.

Air System

The Cummins turbocharger is optimized for marine applications and includes a wastegate for exceptional transient response. It is paired with a marine-grade air filter.

Engine Design

The robust in-line six-cylinder design is crafted for high-hour marine applications. It features a single-piece crossflow cylinder head for maximum durability and optimized combustion. Replaceable wet cylinders enhance longevity and reduce rebuild costs.

Lubrication System

Equipped with a standard capacity (18.9 L [20 qt.]) marine-grade oil pan. Spin-on Cummins filters are available for easy maintenance.

Electrical System

It features a 24v standard electrical system with a 12V option available.

Exhaust System

SOLAS compliant, with a wet exhaust manifold featuring shielding. A water-cooled design is also available, which reduces engine surface temperatures and improves emissions.
